Black Eyed Peas Give Back to Peace4Kids

On Monday, January 30, The Black Eyed Peas came to the Watts/Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club to dedicate the Black Eyed Peas PEAPOD Music and Arts Academy.  About 30 youth gathered to meet the band. Will.i.am spoke about being raised in East Los Angeles and wanting to give back to the kids in his home town.  Several of the youth had the opportunity to read their poetry for the Peas and everyone in attendance was able to engage with the band members, play music, and get autographs.

This initial meeting was just the beginning! With a full functioning music studio sponsored by the Peas being built into the Watts/Willowbrook Boys and Girls Club, the youth of Peace4ids will have all the equipment they need to help cultivate their talents and express their art. The youth of Peace4Kids have long used various mediums of art to express their opinions and creativity. Whether it be through photography, film, poetry, or music our foster youth have developed incredible voices and found many audiences to inspire.

The Black Eyed Peas created the PEAPOD Foundation, a charitable service fund of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, to encourage social change by uniting people through the universal language of music. To help raise funding for the PEAPOD Music and Arts Academy, the Black Eyed Peas played host to a sold out show at the Avalon Hollywood on Thursday, February 8th. The Special honoree that night was legendary music producer and the founder and co-chairman of Interscope records Jimmy Iovine. Many people showed up in support of this special event, with special performances from Slash, Wyclef Jean, John Legend, Macy Gray, and Herbie Hancock, just to name a few, Peace4Kids’ message of supporting the artistic needs of foster youth was able to reach a much broader audience. The youth of Peace4Kids who got the opportunity to attend the concert want to extend their sincerest gratitude to The Black Eyed Peas and the Entertainment Industry Foundation for making this all possible.

Please take a moment and consider making a gift to Peace4Kids. Your tax-deductible contribution will help us work closer with foster and at-risk youth, and guide their journey into adulthood. It is the only way we will be able to expand and sustain our programs.
