Through the Emancipation Services Program Through the Peace4Kids Emancipation Services Program, transitioning youth ages 12-24 receive personalized support in all areas of life. One of the areas that is a major focus of the Emancipation Services Program is healthcare. One of our recent successes in the Emancipation Services Program is with one of our youth who had been injured and needed to have surgery to repair her injuries. After several attempts made by both the young woman and her foster mother to schedule the appointment, they were unable to reach anyone at the hospital and left several messages that went unreturned. When the young woman entered the Peace4Kids Emancipation Services Program, she was given an assessment that covered numerous life areas, including health and medical matters. She confided to the Peace4Kids Resource Specialist that she had difficulty scheduling an appointment for her much needed surgery. The young woman's Resource Specialist, Nikole Johnson, escorted her to the hospital to make the appointment and ensure adequate treatment. On Saturday, September 8th, 2007 she went into the hospital to have her surgery done and is doing exceptionally well. This young woman is only one of the Peace4Kids youth who is experiencing amazing success as a result of participating in the Emancipation Services Program. We are currently serving 30 youth through our Emancipation Services Program and are looking to increase that number over the next 6 months. Please take a moment and consider making a gift to Peace4Kids. Your tax-deductible contribution will help us work closer
with foster and at-risk youth, and guide their journey into adulthood. It is the only way we will be able to expand and
sustain our programs. |
