Children are Inspired by Live Theater on Peace4Kids Field Trip

“I now know that I can be whatever I want to be”, “anything is possible”, “don’t let others judge you” were the words of our children following a performance at the Norris Theater of the popular new show, High School Musical.  When their director of education, Debbie Martinez, asked the children to stand up if they have never attended a live theatrical performance, almost half of the Peace4Kids participants rose out of their seats.  It became clear that the show was going to be a brand new opportunity for many and a wonderful experience for all.

We are so grateful to the Norris Theater and P4K volunteer, Ashley Martinez for inviting us to the show and giving us special privileges; front row seats.  As our kids watched the performance, their eyes lit up, many on the edge of their seats just waiting to see what was going to happen next.  The performance included dancing, singing, jokes and a story line that helped the audience to understand that their dreams are possible.
After the show, many of our youth expressed their interest in performing in a play and the Norris Theater plans to help us make that possible.  We will be working with the Directors to create opportunities for the children to audition and potentially be part of a play.  We are so excited to have such wonderful partnerships in the community who support Peace4Kids and strive to make anything possible.

Please take a moment and consider making a gift to Peace4Kids. Your tax-deductible contribution will help us work closer with foster and at-risk youth, and guide their journey into adulthood. It is the only way we will be able to expand and sustain our programs.
