As a Counselor in Training (CIT) for the 08 P4K camping trip I had a great experience. It showed me how to be a better role model, and how to lead a group. Because I had all the younger kids, I had to watch my actions and language, because I want to be a good example. Even though we had minor problems we all had fun and that made me happy that I was there to help the youth and let them have a great camping trip. My role as a CIT for the camping trip made me want to volunteer at the Peace4Kids program every Saturday now that I am 18.
And hopefully next year I can go to camp as a volunteer. I am grateful that I was able to attend another camp and thankful that you made it possible.

This year I was part of the Peace4Kids camping trip to Catalina Island. This was my 3rd year participating. Each time I’ve returned knowing our kids a little better. I’ve also been fortunate to share my cabin with many of the same girls year after year. I love to hear the girls say “remember last year when….. “. It’s such a great feeling to be able to give our kids lifetime memories. This year’s camp went above and beyond my expectations. We snorkeled, kayaked, swam, hiked, went on a GPS scavenger hunt, had a concert and a movie on the beach. With cheers and support from their peers two little girls were able to muster up the courage to sing during the concert…. what a vision! Our kids had never experienced most of these activities, evidenced by them calling the ocean “the pool”, and there are no words to describe the courage and pride they showed when trying and succeeding at something new. My most memorable experience this year was the bison sighting…. everyone should be so lucky to have this new experience with our kids!

The Peace4Kids 2008 trip to The Catalina Experience camp was wonderful! I cannot express how much fun the kids had and how excited they were to try new activities such as survival, Kayaking and snorkeling. Our kids were so sad to leave and to be honest I felt the same way. The experience was very memorable and we would not have been able to do it without your support. Thank you for your love and contributions to Peace4Kids, we truly appreciate you! After our arrival back to the city, one of The Catalina Experience staff counselors said in all of her years working for the camp, this is the first time she has stayed behind to say goodbye to a camp group. As our kids are learning and experiencing new things they still are touching the lives of others.
