 From the inception of Peace4Kids, volunteers have been our hallmark, lifeblood, and foundation. In fact for the first six years of our existence, Peace4Kids was entirely volunteer run. As a result we want to highlight some very special people every month for all that they do to support our community and our youth.
Additionally, our program could not exist without our extraordinary youth. They are truly the reason why Peace4Kids has been able to thrive and establish a remarkable reputation in the community. For this reason, it is only natural that we acknowledge them as well.
Volunteer Hero of the Month:
Rachel Neet has been a consistent force at Peace4Kids for the past three years. She is a mentor and consistent Saturday core program volunteer and has been an incredible girl’s counselor on our summer camping trips. Her nurturing demeanor and her appreciation for each of our kids and their unique gifts allow her to be one of our only volunteers that can float between working with the young 5-7 year olds, the 8-13 year olds and the teens. Rachel is always willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that our youth have an incredible experience discovering their possibilities. Recently, Rachel has taken on the responsibility of being the historian for our program so that our youth will be able to record and capture all of their experiences at Peace4Kids through pictures. We are sorry to say that Rachel will be moving to Portland, OR in the coming months but in true volunteer hero fashion, she still plans on attending our summer camp! We’ll miss you Rachel but thank you so much for helping to shape so many wonderful memories.
Youth Hero of the Month:
Kadeja has been involved in the P4K program for over 6 years. She exemplifies the core concept of Respect as she has been an incredible support to the volunteers and the kids. Her willingness to grow through new experiences has allowed Kadeja to learn everything through the program from science to dance. Her respect for the program and herself is an inspiration to all who encounter her.
