Foster youth are left ill equipped and under skilled to enter the world as productive, self-sufficient, law-abiding citizens, particularly due to a significant lack of support and services for teens making the difficult transition from foster care into adulthood.
Various programs and systems have been developed over the years to fill this gap and mitigate poor outcomes, but the success of these programs is severely limited, and the youth they serve are mistrustful of the system that provides the programs, because it is the same system that has already failed them, time and again. |
