In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Watts Rebellion, we’ll share stories highlighting community members who are advancing an “equitable” society for our children. Imagine a world where youth in foster care, who are often unseen and unheard, receive all they need to prosper.
If these stories resonate, please consider
to help raise awareness and support the ongoing development of our community change makers.
Kendrick Lamar popped in on the kids today! While addressing the youth he said...
"I gotta thank you for keeping me inspired. When I was young, I remember those who came back to make a difference. When you see someone in the flesh, your dreams feel more attainable. I'm from Compton...grew up right down the street, and I'm here to tell you that it's real, dreams are real, and you can do anything you put energy behind."
Big love Kendrick! #madrespect
Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal. - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In honor of the social justice leaders of yesterday and today, Peace4Kids hosted its 5th annual celebration on the campus of Loyola Marymount University. This video highlights the celebration and honors the dedication of hundreds of foster youth who are lending their voice to create positive change.
For 16 years the Peace4Kids holiday event has brought the foster care community together to celebrate all of the relationships that help "our" youth remember that they have the power to create their family. The holidays can be a difficult time for youth in foster care. During a time of year when most people are enjoying time with family, foster youth are reminded that they are separated from those who they love. Through a long-term commitment to youth in foster care Peace4Kids is making the holidays special with the support of its community of donors and volunteers.
'The Connection Campaign' is The Green Children's most recent social justice collaboration. The duo of musical ‘elfin dreamers’ will be donating all proceeds from their latest album 'Connection' to Peace4Kids.
The Green Children are constantly looking to connect with compassionate and creative minds in a way that is true to their own musical and visual expression. Their music has been described by Rolling Stone magazine as 'dance-pop ballads from elfin dreamers', but their elfin visions have always gone beyond their music: to connect with causes and create in the real world the dream their melodies herald from.
