Volunteer & Outreach Manager

Reports To: Deputy Director | FSLA: Exempt, Full Time | Hybrid, some evenings and weekends required

As the Volunteer & Outreach Manager at Peace4Kids, you will play a crucial role in recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers to support our programs and initiatives. Additionally, you will outreach to community partners and service providers to engage them in our innovative training curriculum for helping professionals. You will work closely with the program and executive team to ensure that volunteers and helping professionals are effectively matched with opportunities that align with their skills and interests, and that they receive the necessary support and guidance to make a meaningful impact.


You'll be responsible for...

Recruitment

  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit volunteers from diverse backgrounds and skill sets.
  • Utilize online platforms, social media, and community outreach to attract potential volunteers.
  • Collaborate with local colleges, universities, and organizations to recruit student volunteers.

Community Outreach

  • Connect with local school districts, child welfare agencies, and service providers to promote professional development opportunities based on our training model.
  • Identify user experience benefits from training approach and promoters who can expand our reach.
  • Coordinate and calendar training sessions for both synchronous and asynchronous community trainings.
  • Maintain community relationships through strategic engagement and event participation.

Orientation & Training

  • Orient new volunteers to Peace4Kids' mission, programs, and policies.
  • Provide volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge for their roles.
  • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to volunteers to help them succeed in their positions.

Placement & Management

  • Match volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on their skills, interests, and availability.
  • Maintain a database of volunteer information, including contact details, availability, and areas of expertise.
  • Provide volunteers with updates on upcoming events and opportunities.

Recognition & Appreciation

  • Develop and implement strategies to recognize and appreciate the contributions of volunteers.
  • Organize volunteer appreciation events, awards ceremonies, and other recognition activities.
  • Solicit feedback from volunteers to continually improve the volunteer experience at Peace4Kids.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Assess volunteer needs and identify volunteer opportunities with the program team.
  • Assist other staff members in integrating volunteers into all aspects of the organization.
  • Keep volunteers informed about organizational events, activities, and opportunities.

Comply with Peace4Kids Strategic Plan, Project Plans and Budgets.


Who Are You?

A prospective candidate will believe in and be driven by our core values and mission. We seek a professional with lived experience in foster care and/or a deep sense of empathy, compassion, and a clear understanding of the child welfare system. Additional requirements are:

  • Bachelors in related field with two years related experience required; or 5-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in volunteer management or related field preferred.
  • Passion for working with youth and making a positive difference in the community.
  • Can effectively self-regulate and take mindful approaches to be an effective co-regulator.
  • Experience developing and implementing project plans and training programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience facilitating large groups, both in person and in virtual settings.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Have advanced technical and computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Canva, etc.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Possesses a current and valid driver’s license.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer / standing and exposure to the outside elements.  Good vision, hearing and speech; use of hands, dexterity, and cognitive abilities.  Ability to travel and be mobile.  Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Local travel needed throughout Los Angeles County


Compensation + Benefits

Base salary range: $68K - $72K
